Hair and There

source

Hi dolls,

the comic above illustrates pretty well how I felt about my hair lately, so it was time to get a real haircut. I haven't been at a hairdresser's in like three years, I cut my hair myself in that time, but that obviously doesn't work anymore for short hair.

So I got a shoulder-length bob. I really really like it, I had forgotten about how much I like having short hair. Long hair is fine and all, but I'm too lazy to make fancy hair-dos every day anyways (^.-).

And while I'm at it, here are some (more or less) recent outfits of mine I'd like to share:

Bye-Bye Summer Heat

Hi dolls,

you wouldn't believe how glad I am that autumn has finally started and the weather isn't so incredibly hot anymore!
Although on our latest lolita meet-up 1½ weeks ago, we had the bad luck to catch what must have been the hottest day of August (at least that's how it felt to me). But enough whining about climatic parameters, here's what I was wearing:

Outfit rundown:
hat: H&M
shirt & skirt: Medusa Couture
socks: Bodyline
shoes: Tamaris

We went to Murten, a small city where I haven't been in ages, although it's so cute! I'd love to go back some time when it's a bit more agreeable, maybe in winter (^.-)

We visited the town museum which is installed in a gorgeous, super old mill, took some pictures and afterwards we had drinks and cake at an adorable café with the most beautiful rest room I've ever seen (*.*)

Waidmannsheil

Hi dolls,

so it seems like this is becoming a sickness, but lately I can't walk by something deer/antler/bambi-themed without buying it (>.<)

So since I love the band Rammstein, I couldn't resist with this bandshirt. I love love love the print, but it was only available as men's shirt, so I got it in the largest size available and turned it into a dress.

Of course, I couldn't *just* turn it into a dress without further embelishments. I think Rammstein have their very own aesthetic, especially when it comes to stage outfits and CD covers, which I tried to incorporate into the design.

The shoulder straps and the logo are made of fake leather. Especially the logo was a lot of work, I had to start over three times until I was halfway satisfied with the workmanship. It's still not 100% perfect, but I just hope no one will look too closely.

I used large metal rings and rivets to assemble all the pieces. The jersey from the shirt is quite thick and of good quality, but for good measure I reinforced the parts where the straps are attached with double-sided interface and an additional layer of jersey.

I sewed the lower part of the logo on the dress, so part of the cross is not see-through. This has several intentions, for one increased stability, but also to hide the bra band, and lastly just as a design element. The Rammstein logo is so geometrically perfect, which is very satisfying on one hand, but on the other hand I needed this little interruption.

I have no idea how to pose in a dress like this, so I just tried *something*
Shoes are by Demonia

Speaking of bras, I found out that the one strapless bra I bought ages ago still fits me (miraculously), so I didn't even had to buy a new one. I cut the sides of the dress a bit lower so the band can peek through (so hipster ^^), but the shoulder strap design obviously calls for a strapless bra.

I'm really happy with how it turned out, and probably the best part about it is how incredibly comfortable it is - after all, it's still an oversized t-shirt (*_*)

Eloquence

Hi dolls,

I'm travelling a lot at the moment and in the near future, for vacations and lolita conventions, and in between I'm glued to the sewing machine, all of which makes me very very happy (^.^)
However, there are some purchases I made this summer that I haven't shown you, which I'd like to catch up on before I forget it (if you follow my instagram you've already seen them though).

shoes from ebay

I also have an outfit to share with you! I had the chance to dress up a bit on sunday (^.^) I feel like this outfit represents my current style and preferences quite well, and it makes me happy how effortless I can put it together - after purchasing and selling many many garments, my wardrobe has finally reached a somewhat coherent state, yay! Heat Wave and Smile

Hi dear summer children,
how are you?
I'm really not fond of the hot weather we have here at the moment and I'm already dreaming of autumn (yes I'm a horrible person that way).
However, all the dreaming doesn't help to cool down, so I tried it with distraction in form of a lolita meet-up. Eta Carina organised it in her hometown Lucerne, where I haven't been for ages, so I was really looking forward to it. We went for an hour-long boat tour on a really cute little ship before visiting the Richard Wagner museum.

All lolitas on board!

I liked the museum a lot, although it's rather small, it's decorated lovely, and of course they were playing Wagner music in the background (^.^)

It was great to see my Lolita friends again, there were even some new faces (our community is so small, we are always happy about more people) and a few who hadn't attended a meet-up in a while, so we had a chance to catch up (^.^)

sunglasses because the sun was so blinding
Outfit rundown:
Hat: decorated by me
Jsk: Emily Temple Cute
Shoes: Mojo Moxy (from modcloth.com)

Because of the temperatures I didn't want to wear a full-on lolita outfit, so I skipped the blouse and the petticoat, and I was glad I did :D

The brooch is a gift from a friend and has a stag on it (it can be seen better here). Not only do I love the fact that my love for anything deer-related seems to be noticed, but it also matches two of my dresses with deer-print perfectly! I must have good karma, or at least I'm in favour with the fashion gods (*.*)

Lazy Life

Hi dolls,

I'm really enjoying my summer break, dressing up and meeting friends to catch up (^.^)
If you follow my instagram, it probably looks like that's all I do, although I'm also sewing a lot (*.*)
But anyways, I have some outfits to share with you:

Cardigan: HellBunny
Dress: handmade by me
Shoes: Demonia

Hat: decorated by me
Necklace: Moon Bunny
Jsk: Innocent World
Underskirt: handmade by me
Shoes: Deichmann
I wore this outfit to meet Lea in Basel! I felt like a forest witch (^.^) I'm also growing fond of longer skirts in Lolita, commonly known as tea-length skirts. I just wear the petticoat and underskirt on my hips instead of on my waist to add the length, but I'm considering sewing longer skirts and also a new petticoat.

we had crèpes at a cute crèperie and cupcakes at Cupcake Affair

Jsk: Angelic Pretty
Shoes: Bodyline
no petticoat because it's really just too hot (for me)
Today, I met some Lolita friends, also in Basel. First, we went to the Landesmuseum in Liestal to see an exhibition about cherries and cherry blossoms, and afterwards to Yogurt Now for frozen yogurt (^.^) the café is soooo cute and the yogurt is amazing (although quite expensive).

Plaid, Pleats & a Pocket

Hi dolls,

between sewing things for my indielabel (I'm currently preparing for two Lolita-conventions I'll attend this summer), I felt like sewing a skirt for myself that has been on my to-sew-list for ages. Long time ago, I bought a residual piece of tartan fabric on sale, only 70cm long, which makes it perfect for a pleated mini-skirt (or so I thought).

It's constructet like a wrap-skirt, which works quite well since the fabric has a nice fall, but I realized when I wore it that I have to add an invisible button to secure the open skirt part, because it tends to fly open when it's windy (-.-)

I used jeans-buttons which can be riveted directly onto the fabric, which is very handy (^.^) I really like the look in combination with the plaid.
In the back, it has a bit of shirring, just because it's more comfortable, and of course it's lined, so I can wear it in winter with tights, too.
I even managed to put in a pocket on the side - only one, since the pleats are all folded in the same direction, so hiding the pocket under a pleat only works on one side. I should put pockets in my skirts amd dresses more often, usually I forget or I'm too lazy.

And of course I had to wear it right away the next day (^.^). I felt super comfortable in this outfit!

yay for the pocket!

June Treats Me Well

Hi pretties,

on wednesday, Aya and I met in Basel to go shopping, walk along the Rhine and having a mini-picnic (^.^) I was super happy with my outfit, I think I've never felt more like mysef - and of course, I'm still jazzed about my hair!

Headbow: Innocent World
Necklace & dress: handmade by me
Shoes: thrifted
First, we went to the fleamarket. I had a vague plan of looking for a nice teapot, since the old ugly one we had before broke. I didn't really expect to find something since I'm sometimes very picky, but then I saw this one and fell in love:

Isn't it gorgeous? I think the best part is that it's got pansies on it (or at least some flowers that ressemble pansies, I'm no expert).
Later, we also went to H&M, where I found a beautiful lingerie set which was on sale and this amaaaaaazing sweater in mint with dinosaurs on it (mint! and dinosaurs! how awesome is that?)

shopping haul

I was amazed about how many cute compliments I got for my hair. We were both dresses in black and Aya has short purple hair, so apparently we made quite a dramatic appearance (^.^) we got all kinds of reactions from passers-by, ranging from deathly glances to a kid whispering "witch" to love declarations!

Antique

Hi dolls,

some time ago, I added a piece to my wardrobe which had been on my wishlist for ages, so naturally I was very very excited when I finally found it second hand:
The Antique Pansy jsk by Innocent World in beige!

It's so dainty and gorgeous, I'm very fond of all the details, like the print, the bow on the top or how it's printed on jaquard fabric which spots a rose pattern!
I couldn't wait to wear it and had the chance to when I went to St.Gallen with a friend last week:

Blouse & jsk: Innocent World
Alice band & jewellery: handmade by me

We went shopping for laces at the outlet store of Bischoff Textil, visited the breathtaking Abbey Library and had some ice cream afterwards (^.^)

It's not allowed to take pictures inside, so here's a stock photo

It was the first time I was inside the famous library. I must admit, I thought it would be a bit larger (the room's actually quite small), but all the ancient books and the baroque ceiling paintings were amazing!
