Hi dolls,

so it seems like this is becoming a sickness, but lately I can't walk by something deer/antler/bambi-themed without buying it (>.<)

So since I love the band Rammstein, I couldn't resist with this bandshirt. I love love love the print, but it was only available as men's shirt, so I got it in the largest size available and turned it into a dress.

Of course, I couldn't *just* turn it into a dress without further embelishments. I think Rammstein have their very own aesthetic, especially when it comes to stage outfits and CD covers, which I tried to incorporate into the design.

The shoulder straps and the logo are made of fake leather. Especially the logo was a lot of work, I had to start over three times until I was halfway satisfied with the workmanship. It's still not 100% perfect, but I just hope no one will look too closely.

I used large metal rings and rivets to assemble all the pieces. The jersey from the shirt is quite thick and of good quality, but for good measure I reinforced the parts where the straps are attached with double-sided interface and an additional layer of jersey.

I sewed the lower part of the logo on the dress, so part of the cross is not see-through. This has several intentions, for one increased stability, but also to hide the bra band, and lastly just as a design element. The Rammstein logo is so geometrically perfect, which is very satisfying on one hand, but on the other hand I needed this little interruption.

I have no idea how to pose in a dress like this, so I just tried *something*

Speaking of bras, I found out that the one strapless bra I bought ages ago still fits me (miraculously), so I didn't even had to buy a new one. I cut the sides of the dress a bit lower so the band can peek through (so hipster ^^), but the shoulder strap design obviously calls for a strapless bra.

I'm really happy with how it turned out, and probably the best part about it is how incredibly comfortable it is - after all, it's still an oversized t-shirt (*_*)

Short Sleeved

Hi cuties,

sometimes last year I altered this blouse from Innocent World:

It's super pretty and I like to wear it, but the sleeves were always a bit short (apparently a common problem with long-sleeved IW blouses...).
I took the cuffs apart and shortened the sleeves, so it became a short-sleeved blouse.

I used the lace and buttons from the old cuffs for the new ones. I feel much more comfortable wearing it now (I was wearing it here btw.)

Plaid and Subtract

Hi dolls,

the Leipzig Bookfair is coming up and I'll be there for the first time (I'm really looking forward!!), so with preparations and the usual work I have with university and my etsy shop, I have almost no time to spare to sew something for me. This is insofar unfavourable as my personal to-sew-list grows at an alarming rate since I got tons of inspiration at La Vie en Rose... but the only thing you can do about it is taking one thing at a time.

I started with something quick and simple. Maybe you remember this dress I sewed almost 3 years ago (wow, has it really been that long)?

I always loved the fabric; plaid is so versatile. This particular one can be combined with red, black, green, white, offwhite...
But alas! Over time, the dress became too small in the bust area. I sometimes wore it with a vest or cardigan over it, so no one would notice that the zipper didn't close at the top, but that just didn't feel right (-.-)
So as a solution, I made a skirt out of it!

Funny enough, Goldkind did the same to one of her former lolita dresses

I also rehemmed the skirt, so it's a bit shorter now. With the original lenght, there was just too much of it.
And since there was enough fabric left over, I made a matching bow (^_^)

Whenever I have a new garment, I want to wear it as soon as possible, so this was my outfit for school yesterday:

A note about the beret; it's actually the first I ever bought. I always loved the look on others, but also thought they wouldn't fit me. Lea convinced me otherwise, so I decided to give it a try. Here I wore it for the first time on monday:

Cardigan: Chicorée
Skirt: Rakuten
Shoes: Deichmann

I'm still trying to figure it out, but I like how many possibilities there are. Especially now that I have longer hair and can make various hairstyles! (^_^)

Ruffle Removal

Dear Dolls,

first of all, thank you so much for all the cute comments on my last post, that made me really happy! (^.^)

I'm currently in the middle of semester exams. While studying, I like to alternate between learning and sewing, it helps a lot with my concentration; I could never study efficiently for hours without break. So besides taking care of the orders for my etsy shop, I also made some smaller things for my own use, like mending and minor alterations. 

One thing I've altered is this jsk:

I've made it back in March 2011 (omg I'm getting old!) and I still like to wear it, it's super comfortable. However, lately the ruffles at the top became a bit too much, I wanted the neckline to be more simple and elegant. So I removed the ruffles, changed the neckline and sewed on some black lace trim.

The lace was a tiny leftover and was perfect in length and style for this project. I'm very happy how it turned out and looking forward to wear my renewed dress! (^.^)

I think that's a big benefit of being able to sew. Whenever I have a garment I don't like anymore, I usually change it until it pleases me again, which is almost as if I got something new (and I love getting new clothes, haha). But without spending a lot of money. So yay! (^.-)

Back From The Dead

Hi lovelies,

I haven't written anything here for quite a while, because, to be honest, there wasn't really something I could have been writing about...
But oh well, lately I've been crafting a bit again and I thought it would be nice to show you what I've done (^.^)

First thing to do was to make a pair of shoes prettier. The shape and everything was quite cute already, but the bows on them kept falling off. Originally, there have been two bows on every shoe, but I had lost one and the others could be torn off easily. Sad! (>.<)

So I made two new bows, took two od the old bows and added some pearls:

I'm really happy with them now, they will go perfectly with classic lolita and are also a little eyecatcher.
Maybe some of you recognise the fabric I used for the bows? It's from a jsk I sewed last year. Speaking of which, I also needed a hair accessoire to wear with that jsk. So I made an alice band adorned with kanzashi flowers, lace and pearls:

Besides that it matches the jsk, I think I can wear it also with mori girl inspired styles, don't you think so too?

And just for the fun ot it, I made up a coord with the jsk and the new accessoires:

The blouse is from Innocent world, brooch is handmade, pearl necklace is from ebay and the deer necklase is  from sheinside.

While I was at it, I made another alice band, this time using fake flowers and leaves. I guess I thought about a spring forest fairy or something like this, haha (^.-)

Besides that, I got two new hats. You know how much I love hats, and I wanted something to wear in spring and summer. So I bought two big simple straw hats and adorned them too:

For the first one, I used big pink orchids.

On the second hat, I addes yellow lillies and white chiffon fabric, tied to a bow in the back:

Now I only hope summer will come soon, so I can wear my new hats (^.^). Are you looking forward to summer too?

Upcycling

Good morning!

I hope you all started well into the new week after the prolonged weekend (^.-)
I did some sewing, yay! Maybe one or the other of you remembers this bolero I made ages ago. It was actually quite cute, but the cut sucked so I never really wore it. But the fact that a lot Lolitas seem to wear vests lately and an outfit Natron posted a while ago both inspired me to turn it into a cute vest:

It's actually quite short, since the length was given, obviously. Nevertheless, I like it. It's lined with black jersey from an old t-shirt I'm not wearing either and also the buttons were already lying around in my sewing box, which means I didn't spend anything on this vest (apart from the thread, but we're not  nitpicking)

Well, just imagine it ironed and de-wrinkled xD.
I also have a great idea to coordinate it with, but this idea means I have so sew another skirt first (>.<)
I already ordered the fabric, oh, this is going to be awesome *being mysterious*

Lace In Chains

Hi my lovely readers,

I hope you can enjoy the nice almost-spring weather, I personally love this feeling when seasons change (^.^).

As some of you may have seen already, I wrote a little Lolita guide to inform the visitors of my blog. It's the first edition and there's surely potential for improvement. Maybe the experienced Lolitas among you might throw a glance at it and tell me what you think? That would be very nice (^.-)

Then, I'd like to show you a little project I just finished. Ages ago, I bought this lace blazer from H&M. I like the fabric a lot, but never approved of the cut, so I never really wore it. So I decided to turn it into a short jacket.

From the fabric I cut off, I made a new, slightly bigger collar.
Because wanted it to be unique and special (I mean, come on, who wants to be mainstream?! xD), I hand-sewed a heavy, golden chain on the hems.

I like the contrast of the light pink lace and the cold metal, altough I didn't anticipate that the jacket would, in the end, effectively be quite heavy...

All Ready Made

so I've changed my layout - again, I know. But I like it this time quite a lot and hope to stick with this one...

This week, I made two ready-mades.

One of them is a pair of jeans I turned into a skirt:

Since I had no fancy fabric left that would have matched the skirt and also didn't want to buy new one extra for this project, I decided to make the skirt simple and all black. So for the ruffled part, I used the legs of the jeans. The edges I left without a hem, so the fabric can fray as much as it wants. I kind of like the whole used look, and thanks to the simple look I can style it in various ways (^.-)

For the other thing I had fun taking some pics during the process to share it with you (not that it's extraordinarily complex xD )
Basically, I got the inspiration from this awesome Outfit by Atelier P-I-N-K-Y.

The materials: an old T-shirt, some fabric and thread in red, blue and white, and later on, some eyelets.

Then, I shortened the sleeves and cut the fabric into straps, to make ruffles out of them.

Ruffles! I idea for the three-coloured overlock seams I got from this jersey dress by Natron. She didn't have enough overlock thread so she used thee different coloured threds instead, and I thought, that looks really nice, so why not show these seams also to the rest of the world instead of hiding them?

Next, I sewed the ruffles onto the sleeve and neckline hems.

In the end, I added a bow and some eyelets - done!
