Pas de Deux

Hi dolls,

two weeks ago, I released a small collection with a new print for my indiebrand Medusa Couture: Odette, featuring beautiful ballerinas:

I adore the aesthetics of ballet dancers (I even briefly danced ballet myself when I was a child), so I always wanted to do a ballerina print, since I think it goes very well with lolita fashion.
The print itself was drawn by the talented BenyiHS who I found on deviantart, you should totally check out her page, her art is amazing!

I got it printed in offwhite and bordeaux, because I'm currently obsessed with I like these colourways a lot (^.^)

I made a dress and a skirt version and a matching tote bag. Both the dress and skirt have a bustle back, the dress has shirring and lacing in the back and lots of bows and ruffles.

Since I get the printed fabric only per meter, I had a bit left over in the end, so I made bags out of it - I think a tote bag is something you can always use. Plus, lolita handbags are, although super cute, usually not very spacious, so an extra bag can come in handy.

As always, there are more detail photos on the etsy page (follow the link) or on Medusa Couture's facebook and tumblr!

Heat Wave and Smile

Hi dear summer children,
how are you?
I'm really not fond of the hot weather we have here at the moment and I'm already dreaming of autumn (yes I'm a horrible person that way).
However, all the dreaming doesn't help to cool down, so I tried it with distraction in form of a lolita meet-up. Eta Carina organised it in her hometown Lucerne, where I haven't been for ages, so I was really looking forward to it. We went for an hour-long boat tour on a really cute little ship before visiting the Richard Wagner museum.

All lolitas on board!

I liked the museum a lot, although it's rather small, it's decorated lovely, and of course they were playing Wagner music in the background (^.^)

It was great to see my Lolita friends again, there were even some new faces (our community is so small, we are always happy about more people) and a few who hadn't attended a meet-up in a while, so we had a chance to catch up (^.^)

Outfit rundown:
Hat: decorated by me
Jsk: Emily Temple Cute
Shoes: Mojo Moxy (from modcloth.com)

Because of the temperatures I didn't want to wear a full-on lolita outfit, so I skipped the blouse and the petticoat, and I was glad I did :D

The brooch is a gift from a friend and has a stag on it (it can be seen better here). Not only do I love the fact that my love for anything deer-related seems to be noticed, but it also matches two of my dresses with deer-print perfectly! I must have good karma, or at least I'm in favour with the fashion gods (*.*)

Book Challenge June

Hi cuties,

are you enjoying the summer? It's getting a bit too hot for my taste (I'm already longing for autumn - yes, I'm horrible, but I'm just so not a summer person!).
Nevertheless, I've got some reading done, yay!

I finished three books in June:

Kurt Vonnegut Jr. - Schlachthof 5 (German, 208 p.)

- A book with a number in the title
- A book you started but never finished

I started reading this book last year, but somehow didn't really get into it, so I gave up. I tried again for the challenge, and this time it was a bit easier since I knew what to expect, but it still confuses me (especially the science fiction parts...).Maybe it's the traduction, it might be better in the original version.

Haruki Murakami - Gefährliche Geliebte ( German, 286p.)

- A book set somewhere you've always wanted to visit
- A book that came out the year you were born

It's called South of the border, west of the sun in English whitch is not only the accurate translation (I think...?), but also much more poetic. However, I already loved the German translation of Norwegian Wood, so I wanted to read this book in German too. I'm glad I did, it's a beautifully written story, and I really liked the ending - it's hard to have a good ending on a story, they're usually too cheesy or overdone for my taste. Seriously, it's always stressed how important the beginning is, but I think the ending is really significant too, it might destroy the whole feeling of the book.

Stephen King - Es (German, 1536 p.)

- A book that became a movie
- A mystery or thriller
- A book that scares you

Well, the book seemed to scare me in the beginning, as I had a nightmare about the clown, and I hardly ever get nightmares! But the longer the book went on, the less scary it got. I must admit, I think it's a really bad book, especially considering how popular the author is. It's easy to read (otherwise I wouldn't have gone through with it), but all the characters are loaded with clichées and the story gets weirder and weirder towards the ending. I had exected more from a book that has been sold so many times, but then again, I probably shouldn't be expecting too much from popular literature (whoa, that sounds so stuck-up - but I'm just so disappointed!). Anways, I'm glad I read it on my kindle and didn't buy a physical copy, and at least now I never have to read another Stephen King novel.

On the upside, I made some progress on the reading challenge:

By the way, I'd love to know what you are reading at the moment, or whether you know the books I'm reading and what you think about them - tell me in the comments! (^.^)
