Needlework Review 2012

Like last year, let's look back on this year and see what I created in the last 365 days:

Totally, I sewed 4 dresses, 4 skirts, 2 cardigans, 2 vests, 2 other tops, 1 cape, 1 pair of bloomers and 1 pair of gaiters.
Besides that, I knitted 1 cardigan and 2 pairs of legwarmers.
I also crafted, namely 2 bigger headpieces.
And let's please not forget the finishing of the patchwork part on my hand-sewn patchwork quilt.

It sure looks like a lot, not anywhere near what I sewed the year before, but I'm surprised myself. I always felt like I was spending way too little time with my sewing machines....

Looking at the overview, it occurs to me that I added some more red to my closet, and also more natural colours such as brown and cream. It's hard to pick a favourite, but I'd probably go for the wine red a-shape dress or the black ruffly vest. Although, the tartan skirt and the peacock skirt are pretty too...
You see, I definitively can't decide. Which one do you like best?

Haha, by looking at the review post from last year, I realised that this is the 370. post, which means I wrote exactly 100 posts this year!

So, since this will be the last post for 2012, I wish you all a Happy New Year! Don't do too many stupid things (^.-)
Thank you for another wonderful year, I can't say it enough, this blog would only be half as fun without my beautiful readers! Take care!

The End Of The World As We Know It

Hi my dear apocalypse-survivers!

I'm really sorry for my recent lack of blogging.
In between studying for my semester exams (which are approaching alarmingly fast), I was also busy with preparing the next meet-up. Some of you might remember that we had a Lolita-NewYear's Eve-pary last year, and since it was so much fun, we decided to make it a tradition! (*.*) Well, unforunately, we made this decition quite late, so it was really hard to find a location for fifteen or more people... but now it looks like it will turn out all right *phew*.

But actually, I didn't want to whine about that. The preparations also incuded a new outfit, yay! The lovely Aya and me are going to twin, or at least we both sew an outfit from the same fabric. So far, I can show you mine:

Let's start with the fabric. We have a beautiful rose-patterend one, a plaim one between green and brown (it actually changes colours depending on the lightning) and brown fake fur. I also got two light pink fabric roses from IKEA (they really have nice fabric roses!).

I sewed a one piece, a cape and a bonnet. Initially, I was inspired by this bonnet Bathina once made. I really loved how the bonnet complemented the dress, so it always was in the back of my head.

So, this is the dress. It is clearly inspired by the Antoinette dress by Mary Magdalene, one of my all-time favourite dresses. However, since I'm never going to own the original anyways, I hope it's not too much of blasphemy an affront that I intrepreted it in my way (and size).

I'm not overly happy with how it turned out. I made a sample and everything, but still managed to make a huge mistake with the cut. I have no idea how this could have happened, and if I have had more fabric, I'd started over, at least with the top. But well, I'm never going to sell it and if I wear a wig the mistake is not overly visible, so I just have to live with it *sigh*

The bows seem a little invisible as they're made from the same fabric as the background, but in real live you can see them better.

This brown-green colour was not one I liked a lot before, but Aya suggested it and I kind of grew fond of it. I  really like how it brings out the rose pattern.

Side and back sight. I used an invisible zipper in the back for closure. It looks nice, but also includes me doing funny wrenches while putting it on.

Secondly, as announced, I made a cape.
Because Aya also makes one and because I love capes. They are so sophisticated. And pretty. And my forearms and hands will freeze (^.-).

The cool thing about this cape is that you can wear it either side showing. On one side, there is a wide border of the fake fur around the rose fabric.
On the other side, there's the plain fabric and a peter pan collar from fur.

Loliltas never go out without pinning something on their head, and since it's a special occasion and the dress is rather elaborate by itself, I took the opportunity to make a bigger headpiece than I usually would wear: a bonnet.

It's the first bonnet I've ever made and I quite like how it turned out. It's even probably my favourite peice of the set. I hadn't tried on a bonnet before and was unsure if it would fit me, but imho it does (^.^)

For the shape, I used a piece of thick felt, actually the same as I took for the black hat I made this summer. Like this, it keeps its shape quite nicely. So that it would fit the design of the dress, I used the rose patterned one as main fabric and the green-brown one for the ruffles and the tie.

Well, I hope you made it until here, I know, these were a lot of pictures. I'm really looking forward to the party, to see all the lovely Swiss Lolitas again (*.*)

Lolita Blog Carnival: Lolita Inspiration

Hi my dear readers,

you see it right: I finally came down to participate at LBC again!

This week's topic is Lolita Inspiration and can be interpreted individually. So I decided to take the opportunity and show you the Lolitas from all over the world that inspire me most.*

Duplica-Chan

For me, Duplica is the incarnation of the perfect Lifestyle Lolita. Although I don't agree with all of her outfits and tastes (but we all know there's no accounting for taste), I admire her love of fashion and her enthousiasm encourages and inspires me to wear Lolita as often as possible.

Ferderica from Vanilla Syndrome

I love her refreshing punky style, also outside of Lolita, while she still looks beautiful and elegant. And her wig collection is amazing, she achieves to look different in every new outfit.

Caramea from New Vogue Chlidren

I'm especially inspired by her amazing Classic Lolita Outfits. So elegant! Plus, she blogs often about her adorable tea parties, it's always a real treat to read her blog.

Pastelbat

Actually, she doesn't wear Lolita that often, but nevertheless, her creepy-cute style ist so amazing! She did not only perfect the image of pastelgoth (which seems to be a quite popular style lately), the mixture of pastel wigs and obscure accessoires and details is also highly inspiring for me.

Zeruda

Unfortunately, she doesn't wear Lolita anymore (>.<). It's such a pity, because her sense of style was incredible! Well, you can't force anyone to wear Lolita, but I still draw a lot of inspiration from her coordinates.

*Of course, there are many more extemely lovely Lolitas that inspire me, but introducing them here would just go beyond the scope. I'm really sorry for that!

These lovely blogging Lolitas also participate on this week's LBC:

Ich Seh Nur Anders Aus Als Du

Hi dolls,

last Saturday, we had a Lolita meet-up, which coincided also with the International Lolita Day!
First, it was supposed to be only a small meet-up, since it was planned on short notice by Pyl and me, but in the end we were quite a group, which was, of course, really great! (^.^)
Pinky had organized a Apero-before-Chrismas at her shop, the SevenSins in Aarau, so we decided to visit her on that occasion. Unfortunately, it was a little crammed with all the petticoats in the little shop, so in between we stepped outside and took some pictures.
After that, we went back to the SevenSins, did some shopping, said goodbye to Pinky and then some of us went for a cup of tea in a restaurant (the others had to catch their train, sadly). I really enjoyed the afternoon, it's always a treat to see all the beautiful ladies and gentlemen (^.^)

And now for some picture time!

The whole group (without me, obviously, I was the one taking the photo)
