Provided

Hello darlings!

I know, it's still more than a month until a new year begins, but after seeing it on Facebook, I couldn't restist to buy a new calendar (^.^).
It's from Annie Bertram, an imho very talented photographer, and features beautiful girls in stunning outfits. So inspiring!

The shipping was incredibly fast, I got it two days after I ordered and paid via PayPal.
When I opened the envelope, some nice postcards and flyers fell out.

I love getting these kinds of things, I'll put them in my inspiration folder (^.^).
If you want to see Annie Bertram's work, visit her fb page or her homepage, where you also can order the calendar.

By the way, tomorrow is International Loliay Day! Are you doing something nice?
I'm going to a little meet-up, I'm looking forward to it (^.^)

Pillow: Patchwork

Hi dolls,

as I said, I'll make two pillow covers matching the quilt to practise hand quilting. The (for me) unspectacular part is done, I sewed the patchwork:

I don't know when I'll have time to continue, with december approaching, the exams get closer too, so I'll probably have to cut back on crafting for a while...

Der Prinzessin Neue Kleider

Hi cuties!

The second thing I sewed is a new jsk:

When I saw the fabric I fell in love, and I always wanted to make a dress that is inspired by traditional western european costumes. The dirndl is probably the most known, but also in Switzerland, almost every municipality has its own local costume. The variety is immense, but the dresses are very conservative and they underlie strict rules, how and when to wear it, what fabric has to be used et cetera.
Nevertheless, they are a great inspiration.

It is the first time I lined a dress completely. Not because it is overly difficult, I just never had the motivation (^.-). But I must confess, it looks a lot more... what's the word? Serious?

In order to stick with the rustic design, I chose these corsage hooks for the lacing.

It took me ages to find decent lace in a nice chocolat brown! But I'm very happy with this one.

Remember To Learn To Forget

Hi dolls,

I don't even have a pathetic excuse for not blogging for so long.
Which is a shame, there are so many lovely things I'd like to share with you lovelies! Amongst others,  I sewed a little:

Currently, I'm fascinated by waistcoats (^.^)
I think they go so well with Lolita, and a vest is a nice alternative to a waist belt.

I sewed one myself because it seemed to be rather hard to find a vest that can be worn with Lolita. It has to be short enough so you can wear it with the typical silhouette. Otherwise it wouldn't look that flattering, because a vest that's too long rumples and creates crinkles around the waist part. Besides that, the waistcoats sold at common stores are rather boring, and you know how I love some decadent decoration (^.^)

I decided to turn the attention to the collar. It's framed with ruffles and trimmed with black rose lace. The lace and the fabric are actually of the same colour, my camera makes it just look different.

Speaking of, maybe the fabric looks familiar to you? I bought about 5 meters of it and already used it for a hat, bloomers and to decorate the plaid gaiters.

Said gaiters share another similarity with the vest: I used fabric covered buttons again. Don't they make it look quite elegant and elaborate?

*Phew!*

Yes, it's done! Well, at least the fist part (*.*)
I'm talking about the never-ending-project called patchwork quilt: I finished the paatcchwork part! Some of you may have followed it from the beginning, either here or on my WIP at N&S.
For everyone else and those who lost track, I thought I'd make a little wrap-up:

It started on the 4.8.2011 with 200 hexagonal paper jigsaws, a small pile of fabric (I underestimated the fabric use greatly, so this pile would grow during the time) and the ambitious intention to hand-sew an English Quilt, following the example of Ette's wonderful one.

I started very motivated. First, I made flowers, the highlights of the quilt:

By October 2011, the center piece, consisting of 7 flowers, was completed:

After that, I moved on to the side parts. Don't they look like flower beds?

From that point on, the quilt became too big to take with me, so I could only work on it at home (before, I took ot witht me on the train or when going to my mum's place etc.). I conected the middle and side parts:

Since it was easier to keep track of the pattern, I tried to work symmetrically. By June 2012, it looked like that:

After that, the thing was too big to be laid out in my room, so I had to photograph it in the living room (^.^). During my summer break, I had more time and motivation again, so by August 2012, I had all the flowers integrated:

And now, as I said, here it is:

For the record:
- 18 different fabrics
- 200 paper jigsaws
- 2 coils of sewing thread and basting thread each
- several needles
- countless hours of film and music
This equals in a monster with measurements 210 x 180 cm, consisting of 1621 hexagones!

Now comes part two: the quilting.
Since handquilting is something I never did before, I thought I'd make two matching pillows first, so I can practise. This is convenient, because the inner side of a pillow cover is not looked at too often and I also can decide over the quilt pattern.

So I hope you're still with me! (^.-)

Lolita Blog Carnival: My Day In Pictures

Hello my lovely readers!

Well, the title says it already, the topic of this week's Lolita Blog Carnival is to share on day in the Lolita life by taking pictures of what we're doing (^.^).

I chose thursday for this, because it's my day off and I spent it with working for university all day long. I hope you don't get bored!

7.45 am: Good morning!
I always need a cup of coffee first so I actually wake up. While drinking it, I turn on the radion and listen to the news.

8.00 am: Make-up.
For a meet-up or another special occasion, this would take quite some time, but on normal weekdays, I keep it simple: foundation and powder, some eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara. I also did nothing special about my hair.

8.30 am: The question: what do I want to wear?

8.45 am: Picture time.
I didn't feel very photogenic that day, so no real outfit photo. Since I had to study all day, I chose something confortable but cute, this always lifts my mood (^.^)

Blouse: Bodyline
Skirt: handmade
Socks: Baby, the Stars shine bright
Shoes: Deichmann
Ring: Claire's
Feather earrings: a gift

9.00 am: Cleaning up.
I have to dust my room almost every day, there's always so much dust! I really have no idea where it comes from...

10.00 am: Studying, part one.

01.00 pm: Break!
I decided to go outside and take a walk. Unfortunately, by this time my camera needed recharging, so I took this picture which shows the view from the kitchen window when I came back (and the camera was recharged).  But the woods are really beautiful these days!

02.30 pm: Tea time.
It had gotten cooler by then, so I rewarmed with a big cup of green tea, which gave me also new energy.

03.00 pm: Studying, part two.

08.00 pm: Crafting.
After thinking a lot during the day, it's nice to work with the hands a little. I decided to work on my patchwork quilt (almost done with the patchworking part, yay!) and listen to music.

So, hopefully you enjoyed this post!

Degas Exhibition

Hello my dear readers,

I hope you all had a pleasant weekend.
Today, I was at the Fondation Beyeler, a museum in Basel.
Currently, there is an exhibition of Edgar Degas' late work, so the paintings, sculptures and photographies he made around 1900. I'm not very experted when it comes to visual arts, but Degas is an artist whose work I enjoy.
Préparation à la danse, pied droit en avant
The paintings and sculptures of the dancers were naturally my favourite part of the exhibition. I admire how accurat Degas worked when it came to posture and expression, while still having an affinity for details.

Trois Danseuses, jupes violettes
I liked especially how he painted the tutus of the dancers. Some remided me of peacock feathers, so beautiful!
However, possibly my favourite piece was the one of the lady in front of the mirror, Devant le miroir. So elegant!

Devant le miroir

I decided to wear my new blouse from Innocent World and the new wig from GothicLolitaWigs:

derpy face is derpy

I really like how this outfit turned out. Unfortunately, the sleeves of the blouse are quite short (>.<). And the shoes don't match the colour of the jsk precisely. But besides that, I think it's not too bad (^.^)

Wig: GothicLolitaWigs
Alice band: Claire's
Blouse: Innocent World
Jsk: Last Country
Tights: H&M
Shoes: Bodyline
Bag: Loris
I also put on falsies (something I haven't done for a while, but I just love the effect), I was glad they stayed in place the whole time.
(I'm also super glad my bridge piercing healed so perfectly (^.^) )
