Happy Halloween!

~°~°~°~
I hope everyone affected by "Frankenstorm" Sandy is ok! Things seem to be quite horrible, I hope everything will go back to normal soon! <3 p="p">
~°~°~°~

Do you celebrate Halloween?
In Switzerland, children sometimes dress up, and young people take the excuse to party all night long, but in general it's not such a wide-spread event.

I, however, took the opportunity to wear my new shirt by Darkside!

Shirt: Darkside
Skirt: handmade
Tights: Claire's
Shoes: Demonia

I'm also in love with these shoes. I wore them for the first time (shame on me!), and they're sooo comfortable! Besides, they make long legs (^.^)

And my make up:

Uaaaah, Walking Dead! xD

Pom Poms

Hi my dears,

winter is coming, yay! This weekend, a lot of snow felll where I live, it was so magical!

Time to update my wardrobe (again)! (^.^)
Maybe you remember the legwarmers I knitted last year to match the cardigan I made before. After the rather elaborate pattern of the cardigan, I was a little lazy and knitted the legwarmers easy and simple, without further complications. (^.-)

But now I decided they were too boring. So I made pom poms!

I loved to make pom poms when I was a child, but I haven't thought about this craft technique since. Such a shame, because it's still fun! And pom poms are so cute, besides they remind me of fluffy snowflakes, so perfect for winter, right?

Pom Poms are actually also quite popular in Lolita fashion, especially when it comes to winter wardrobe. They are often seen on capes, coats, shoes or, you name it, legwarmers.
Look at this epic pom pom-themed outfit by Caramea!

Lolita Blog Carnival: My Style Outside Lolita

Hi lovelies,

it's friday again, and that means Lolita Blog Carnival!

This week's topic is: Your style outside of Lolita.

Well, I like to dress differently every day and I change my style a lot, but at the moment I can narrow my every-day-style down to 3 categories:

Casual Lolita / Lolita-inspired

Jsk: handmade
Cutsew: handmade
Hairbow: Innocent World
Shoes: Deichmann
Especially now, when the weather is getting colder, I like to take out my petticoat again, wearing a nice skirt or jumperskirt with a t-shirt or cutsew and a bolero. I call this "outside Lolita", it's just very toned down. I don't accessoirze as much, make-up and hair are kept rather simple and I prefer to wear normal, elegant heels instead of classical Lolita platforms or rocking horse shoes.

Creepy-Cute (or whatever you want to call it)

Alice band, skirt & legwarmers: handmade
Earrings: handmade
T-shirt: Cupcake Cult
Shoes: Converse
Cardigan & tights: H&M
Yes, I must confess, I fell for it, too. I hope you understand, I'm magically drawn to everything that's either obscure or cute, so how would I be able to resist something that combines the two of them? I feel comfortable wearing black, at the moment I like to combine it with purple/pink or green. I also prefer wearing Chucks with this style, perfect for days I know I have to walk a lot or just don't feel like wearing high heels.

Mori Girl inspired

Merry-go-round necklace: Romwe
Owl jewellery: Claire's
Crochet vest: ebay
Gaiters: handmade
Shoes: Deichmann
(And yes, I'm very into pigtails right now, it's my favourite hairstyle: uncomplicated, cute and hides the fact I should visit the hairdresser's)
Now, when the leaves are statring to turn into the most beautiful autumn colours, I like to dress in natural colours, such as browns and creams. Like this, I still can wear summer dresses, and the layering look is very comfortable (especially when the incompetent people at the university try to regulate the air conditioner!)

I hope you liked it!
If you're interested, here are some more blogs which are participating at this week's blog carnival. Have a look!

Nearly Done

Hello my lovely readers,

of course, I haven't forgotten about my quilt, although it has been a while since I last wrote about the progress. It's just not that interersting to say, hey look, I added some more hexagones, unfotunately you can't tell the differece (^.^).
But I think this time, there is a progress visible, compared to the last update:

As I said, I made it rectangular again and added a border of light green hexagones. It has now almost the size I was going for. For a nice completion, I think I'll add another row of darker green hexagones all around, because the whole thing will contract a little when I quilt it anyway, so it's probably best to make it big enough.

Square Cut or Pear Shape

Hi my lovely readers,

yesterday, I didn't feel like working on my quilt or knitting, so I decided to make some jewellery:

Bunnys! Aren't they cute? I paried them with rose diamond-shaped pearls to make a pair of earrings.

Bats, once with black pearls as earrings and once on a simple silver necklace. Lately, I'm quite fond of these adorable animals, can't wait to include them in a gothic outfit. (^.^)

As Autumns Wind Fades Into Black

Hi dolls,

it sure is true that most of my Lolita wardrobe consists of garnments I sewed myself.

However, I'm not a big fan of sewing blouses, and after all, why make them myself when there are so many beautiful blouses waiting to be purchased? (^.^)

So I got this chocolate brown blouse from Innocent World. At the moment, I enjoy wearing earth colours such as browns, greens and creams, it gives me an autumnal feeling. Furthermore, this blouse goes with many of my skirts and jsk, which is always a good reason (^.-)

It comes with a necktie that can be removed. I think I like it better without the bow, but it's nice to have the alternative. The tulle lace is very soft and features tiny roses. As always, IW's quality is very high. I ordered directly from their website and had no problems.

Bloomers of Doom

Once upon a time...

...there was a girl who wanted to be a princess. But because there was no prince in sight whom she could have married, she decided to go to the far-off empire of bows and ruffles, where young ladies could be frilly princesses, eben those who didn't belong to the nobility.

So the girl packed up her most beautiful gowns and set off, over rolling hills and through dark forests. When she finally arrived, she felt welcome at once. All the other frilly princesses were really sweet, and so the girl found new friends and never missed her old live she had left behind.

But one dark morning, our princess noticed thet her undergarnments were in no state to be worn anymore. This meant she would embarrass herself and the other princesses every time she climbed a stair or bent down to pick up a flower. When the emperess of the empire of bows and ruffles was informed about this indecorous behaviour, she got very mad and banned the poor princess from the empire. She was not to come back until she was dressed appropriatively again.

The girl who didn't dare to call herself a princess anymore wandered aimlessly around. The environment became rougher and unfriendlier, as she climbed down, until she felt as if she was going through hell. But despite her fears, she went on, until she could finally see the sunlight again. A good fairy appeared and rewarded her for her braveness. Happily, the girl could return to the empire, dressed perfectly.

And from that day on, none of the frilly princesses would ever dare to behave indecorous in any way, and they lived happily and well-mannered ever after.

Lolita Blog Carnival: 3 Prints You Would Like To See

Hi dolls,

on Lauritas blog, I read about this facebook group Lolita Blog Carnival.
It is basically a community of Lolita blogs, the concept is easy: every week, there is a theme for a blog post. Everyone who participates writes something according to the topic and publishes it on friday. All blogs that participate link each other, so you can read the other articles. (the link list can be found at the end of this post).
So since I was a little clueless what to write about the last few weeks anyway, I thought it would be fun to join the group (^.^)

The theme of this week are 3 prints I'd like to see in Lolita.

1. Bats

I don't know why, since these animals are really adorable and just so perfect for the gothic look, but there seems to be no pretty bat print out there (at least I haven't seen one so far). Imagine a simple background, maybe in dark blue or lilac, black bat silhouettes spread all over, and a nice gothic graveyard border print, also in black. Some black lace, maybe a corset lacing, there we go, I'd absolutely buy this. Moi-même Moitié surely could pull it off very well, or Alice and the Pirates, similar to Vampire Requiem...

2. Grimm's Fairytale of the Frog Prince

As I love all kinds of fairytales, naturally I'd like to see more fairytale-themed prints. An all-over print would be nice, looking like a realism painting, featuring the garden, the fountain with water lilies, then of course the frog and the golden ball (but without the princess or other human beings. After all, the only princess it the one wearing the dress). Imagine all the lovely accessoires: crowns and diadems, water lily-shaped jewellery, a purse looking like a golden ball...

3. Snowflakes

So magical! A dress in blue or white, embroidered all over with tiny perfect snowflakes, completed with elegant sparkly accessoires. This would set me in the right mood while waiting for my favourite time of the year, when everything is covered in soft, white snow...

I hope you enjoyed my first post for Lolita Blog Carnival. The writers of these lovely blogs are also partcipating this week:

Let Them Eat Cake!

Hi ladys,

Lately, there have been not one, but two editorials in fashion magazines with the theme of Marie Antoinette.

Kate Moss in the US Vogue, April 2012
Stylist: Grace Coddington

see more here

Ymre Stiekema in Vogue Japan, October 2012
Stylist: Anna Dello Russo

see more here

Which one do you like better?
I think I'd go for the second one, it just reflects the oppulence and exuberance of the Rococo era better, while the first is a little too straight, in my opinion. Anna Dello Russos work normally doesn't convince me that much, but I think here she really did a great job.

Royal Jewels

Hi lovelies,

I hope you can enjoy your weekend!

One thing I love about Lolita fashion is that you can pick a theme for your outfit and choose every single element of it according to the theme (^.^)

So when I made the Peacock Skirt, I had a pair of matching earrings, and that's that. So I kept looking out for peacock accessoires, maybe I would be lucky and find something?

As you might know, my favourite jewellery are rings, I really have a soft spot for rings and can hardly resist if I see a particularly desirable one. So I was indeed lucky and found this beautiful ring at Claire's.

As it seemed to me before, it hasn't been a bad time at all to search for peacock accessoires. I spotted them quite frequently, but you wouldn't believe the variety in looks and colours. Of course, the colour was important, since I had already the skirt. But it had also to be pretty. I wouldn't have thought so, but apparently peacocks aren't the most grateful model to design jewellery (or maybe people just aren't that gifted?). Anyway, believe it or not, this particular ring was the only one I really liked, so of course I bought it.

Well, one tiny tiny flaw there is; in the fabric, they used golden thread to highlight, whereas the ring ist made of oxidised silver looking metal, and normally I don't mix silver and gold and thus would have prefered golden accessoires. But besides that, it complements the print of the fabric quite beautifully, doesn't it? (^.^)

So, that was my shopping experience, when looking for the (almost) perfect item. It might appear ridiculous, to spend that much thought into a piece of costume jewellery (I think this would be the term for not-real jewellery?), but it's fun too (^.-).

Friday Favourites #13

Hi my beloved readers,

The week is over, weekend's coming, thank god.

I can't even say how sorry I am that I'm not writing anything at all here! I study all week long and just want to wear something comfortable when sitting in the lecture hall or the library all day long, but I also miss dressing up in lolita... *sigh*
I also have a lot of sewing projects in my mind, I hope I'll get near my sewing machines again soon.

So, I'll stop whining now. Today just some coordinations that inspire me at the moment:

By the way, do you have any suggestions or wishes concerning what could I blog about? I'd love to have your input, after all, my lovely readers are very important for my blog (^.^)
