London Calling

Hi my dears,

as promised, some impressions from my trip to London last week! If you follow my tumblr (btw, who else is on Tumblr?) might have seen some of them already (^.^)

Friday, day 1:
I arrived at 7.30 in London and took the train to Victoria Station, where I met the lovely Jennifer, whom I shared a hotel room with. We went sightseeing, to the V&A museum and in the evening, we went to see the musical Wicked with the Austrian Lolitas who joined us in the evening.

Arrival at Victoria Station

In front of Big Ben!

Scones and iced tea

At the Victoria & Albert Museum, there was an exhibiton called "Wedding Dresses 1775-2014", which I absolutely wanted to see, since I have a weakness for wedding dresses (^.^). Besides astonishing gowns from the 18th and 19th century they also showed modern pieces, for example the wedding dresses of Dita von Teese, Gwen Stefani or Duchess Camilla. Unfortunately, we weren't allowed to take pictures (>.<)

The musical stage. It was really awesome! (^.^)

Saturday, day 2:
On saturday was the big Tea Party Club Anniversary event at Gray's Inn, a beautiful and very suitable location. There I had a stand where I sold my creations from Medusa Couture. I didn't get to see anything from the rest of the programme that day, like the fashion show (Metamorphose and Grimoire showed their newest pieces) etc, but I still had a lovely time chatting with the other Lolitas and sellers.

I was a bit early so I took this photo before everyone arrived (*:*)

me again xD

Sunday, day 3:
I was super tired on saturday evening so I went to bed quite early, because on sunday would be the tea party and after party! In the morning, we went (after breakfast lol) to Peggy Porschens shop to eat some extremely delicoius cupcakes!

Ohmnomnomnom
The tea party was at a place called The Rag. We had to wait first in this lovely saloon before we could go to the actual hall where the tea party would be.

Our table! (^.^)

The food was absolutely amazing!

Pretty shop window

A bit more casual outfit for the afterparty

Monday, day 4:
Sadly, my companions had to leave earlier, but I had almost the whole day left. In the morning, I went to the Warner Bro's Studio tour, which was so awesome I can't even find words to describe it! I even completely forgot to take pictures because I was so overwhelmed... if you like Harry Potter, you should definitively see it if you have the chance!
In the afternoon I still had a little time left so I paid 221B Baker Street a visit and went to see the Sherlock Holmes museum, although only from the outside, because I had to return to the airport.

First goosebumps moment of many to follow. Little insider tipp: if you do the tour, go where the wands are shown and ask the staff to tell you why they all look different, it's extremely fascinating!

Best adress ever

that's actually a teapot! want!

As you can see, I didn't take super elaborate outfits with me. I wish I could have, London is after all a fashion metropole, but my bag was mainly filled with stuff for my stand on saturday. However, since I sold some pieces (yay! ^^), I could also shop a tiny little bit myself (*.*)

Halloween stuff from Claire's (it's so expensive in Switzerland so I prefer going to Claire's when I'm aborad),
The complete Sherlock Holmes edition (so pretty!),
A hat from H&M (which I wore on 3 of 4 days xD),
Hogwarts stuff (I think I might look a little geeky now *cough*)
and presents and postcards

If you made it through here, congratulations! Please have some tea and biscuits as a reward! (^.^)

"I Always Loved The Idea Of Not Being What People Expect Me To Be"

Hey dolls,

I have one more thing to catch up on from my adventures this summer, when I was taking a break with my blog!
I had the pleasure to be photographed by Natalia Mansano for a Lolita photography project called "Lolitas, Princesses Modernes". It started back in November (or so) last year, when Natalia approached the french-speaking Lolita community of Switzerland, to do a photo session. You can read more about it on Pyls blog, here and here.
The original idea was to portray only the french-speaking Lolitas. Hovewer, they also asked me to participate, so I could represent the german-speaking Lolitas. They also wanted me to wear an outfit which is completely handmade by me. Naturally, I wouldn't miss this opportunity!
The photoshoot took place at the Rose Garden in Bern, so I chose a gothic black-and-white outfit with a bat and rose theme. I wore my renewed bat-skirt and the prototype of the Medusa Couture Comtesse Bat Bonnet (it's quite floppy since I was experimenting with the manufacturing, the ones I sell at the shop keep their shape much better!). Everythng else is handmade too, obviously, except the shoes, which are by Demonia, and the socks and jewellery.

I felt kinda awkward, since this was my first ever *real* photoshooting with a real photographer. It was over very quickly, and I'm not sure what to think of the photos... but decide for yourselves.
The first three photos are by Natalia, the rest are making-of-behind-the-scenes-pictures by the lovely Pyl, who assisted Natalia that day.

Last Minute

Hey dolls,

I'm very very excited right now, not only because university started again this week, but even more because I'll be flying to London on friday!!
I've never been there before (a shame, I know), the reason why I'm going now is that there''ll be a big Lolita tea party: The Tea Party Club celebrates it's 7th Anniversary, called Revelry, and I'm very honoured to have a stand there, where I'll be selling dresses and accessoires from my etsy-shop Medusa Couture.

So these past weeks, I've been busy preparing my stand and actually had already planned my outfits. But then I felt like wearing these shoes (haven't put them on for quite a while), probably because of all the excitement about London  and Britain and anyways (^.^)

Btw; yes that's me wearing jeans - omg right? ^^

The shoes are not only extremely awesome, but they also inspired me to make a new dress for London. Not that I would have any time to spare, but I've always always wanted to go to London and the UK in general, so I thought this would be a great opportunity to express my devotion. Go big or go home, right?

I'm super happy with how it turned out. I didn't line it and I didn't have a lot of time, so the inside looks quite messy, but no one sees that anyways. I'll probably sew another layer of chiffon under the bottom ruffle, as you can see, the (white) petticoat is visible (>.<)

For the skirt part, I basically  made 3/4 of a British flag, gathered it and sewed it on the dress. I really like the asymetrical look with the two corners just casually hanging down.

I tried to photograph the Union Jack part, I hope it's visible at least a bit (^.^)

That's quite another type of English Patchwork (^.-)

I couldn't decide whether I wanted the lacing in the back to be white or black, so I took both and made a double lacing.
However, I had expected that the result would be a little more elaborate... like this it's rather a detail, but I like it nevertheless.

The bow on the top is sewn on a pin, so I can remove  and relocate it. Naturally I couldn't resist to match it with the skirt (^.^)
