Schneewittchen

Hi dolls,

last saturday, we had another Lolita meet-up. Maybe some of you remember, last year we were at an event during the Belle Epoque week in Kandersteg? This themed week is organized every year, so we decided to attend again!
We met around noon and first went to the Belle Epoque Hotel Victoria, where the lady from Hut und Haube was selling her amazing hats. Such pieces of art, I wish wearing hats like these would still be appropriate!

Afterwards, we went to take some pictures. The day before, it had snowed like 30cm of fresh snow, but on Saturday the weather was really perfect: blue sky, bright sun. I had decided to wear my Snow White jsk for the occasion!

When we walked to the Hotel Doldenhorn, where an afternoon tea would be held, we came by this amazing old-fashioned car! So of course we had to take a picture with it! (^.^)

Btw, the coat is handmade by me, too
The afternoon tea was beautiful, like last year. All these stunnigly dressed ladies and gentlemen, and the tea and food was delicious, too.

During the tea, they presented a fur fashion show. I was a bit disappointed, though. I don't support the industry of fur and animal breeding for it at all *, however, I was curious about the designs they would show. Sadly, most of the presented garments weren't my taste at all. Also, the models ran past our table rather fast, so I almost missed a few. It would have been nicer if they had taken some time to present themselves.
Other than that, I was a nice day, I enjoyed myself. People were all very nice to us and kept giving compliments! (^.^) It was also funny how most people on the streets took pictures openly, because there are a lot of visitors and locals who dress up in historic costumes for the occasion, so we didn't stick out particulary.

* I'm against animal cruelty of all kinds. The organisator of the fashion show is a peltmonger from Berne who claims to use fur from animal-friendly breeding, whatever that means. I would never ever buy real fur newly. However, I don't have any problems with vintage fur items. I also think that fur, feathers, leather and other animal artefacts are wonderful materials for dressmaking. Have you ever heard from Roadkill Couture by Eaton Nott? They make amazing fashion from road kill, animals that have been killed on street accidents and so on. Always better than burning them, in my humble opinion.

So, and if you made it untill here, I have a bonus picture for you: me taking photos, very concentrated, very serious, very derpy

Perfectly Pink, Magically Mint

Hi dear Ladies & Gentlemen,

as I already announced, I'll travel to Helsinki soon, to attend Hellocon. For this occasion, I desperately needed new luggage, since my old suitcase broke down recently (which is ok, I had it for a long time and it was of good service).

So I looked for a new one, which was not too easy because everything was either too expensive or too ugly. Finally, I found this one:

Isn't it cute? I haven't used it so far, I hope it's as solid as it's pretty (^.^)

Bought here (super fast shipping, btw)

Then I made further travelling preparations, which included buying a travel guide with a city map from Helsinki (I love maps!) and thermo soles to put in my shoes, so I hopefully will have warm feet:

And I also started planning my outfits. There are three events (Convention, After Party and Tea Party), so I'll take these three outfits with me:

Still in need for some accessoires (^.^)
If you happen to recognize me, please approach me! I'd love to get to know my readers in real live!

Lavender Flourishes For Me In Winter, Too

Hi my dear Snow Princesses,

how are you doing in winter? Do you enjoy the cold, snowy weather or do you prefer to cuddle up inside with a cup of hot chocolate?
I definitively love winter, with all its aspects. One of them is that you can wear many layers of cute, comfy clothes (*.*)

Currently, I'm more into pastels than dark colours. I also needed new wooly accessoires to keep me warm, but because I couldn't find anything pretty I could afford, I decided to get my knitting needles out again and knit them myself!

Hat and gloves are already finished, I'm still working on the scarf. The pattern is not as complicated as it looks like, but you need to concentrate and I'm not a very fast knitter, too. I still hope I can finish the scarf before summer (^.-)

I used Madeleine wool from Buttinette in lavender. It's 100% Merino, super soft and not scratchy at all. The colour is beautiful, and I also like how well the pattern is visible.
I took this pattern for the gloves, the hat I made freestyle. For the scarf, I use this pattern but altered it slighty so it would get wider.

Fawn Headdress

Hi cuties,

brace yourself, because the fawn obsession goes on!
I wanted to make a matching headdress for my IW Bambi dress. Now, lately, you could see a lot of deer headdresses with antlers. I really like these, but I wanted to do something different. After all, Lolita fashion gives you the freedom to put (almost) whatever you want on your head, so I thought there must be another possibility to pick up the deer theme.

So I looked around on etsy for inspiration and then stumbled upon this adorable vintage bambi figurine. It's made of plastic and probably from the 50s or 60s (not sure about that, though). I sprayed it with clear varnish to protect it and gathered some broad white lace and beige felt fabric:

The figurine is super cute, right? I'm also very in love with the lace, I totally forgot I had it until I cleaned out my lace collection. It's so delicate!

I'm also very fond of the combination of different shades of white. It's not seen very often, unfortunately. I believe it was more popular in the earlier days of Lolita to wear different whites together.

In order to actually wear it on my head, I sewed a strap on the back of the headdress and covered a plain alice band with the felt, so I can slip it through the strap to put it on, and remove it to store it easier when I'm not wearing it.

Lolita Wishlist

Hi dolls,

I know, I'm not supposed to spend money on clothes this year, but this does not apply to items from my Lolita wishlist, since some dresses are really hard to come by and if you have the chance to get a certain piece (second hand), you should take advantage of that.

So, just in case you were wondering:

Alice and the Pirates - Queen's Coat Bucket babydoll jsk in pink or cream, preferably with the bag and/or the bonnet

Baby, the Stars Shine Bright - Chocolate Fascinate Fairytale Chocolierre jsk in cream (yes, I already have this print, but in another style and colour)

Innocent World - Bambi jsk in cream (just too cute to only own it in one colourway)

Baby, the Stars Shine Bright - Sweet Fawn Coat

Angelic Pretty - Milky Chan of the Fawn skirt, either the print or the appliqué version in pink or brown

Dear Celine - Summer Breeze bolero in white or lavender (maybe I'll sew them by myself if I find the fabric)

Angelic Pretty - Candy Treat skirt in lavender

Baby, the Stars Shine Bright - Queen of Snow / The White Kingdom From Which a Fairy Lands Gently Princess skirt in pink or lavender

Patchwork Quilt Pillow

Hi prettys,

once upon a time, I had the ambitious plan to hand-sew an English patchwork quilt as a bedcover, completely with matching pillows. I haven't worked on this project for a looong time, but I didn't forget about it.

The main quilt is still lying in my cupboard, not very quilted so far, but I managed to finish the pillows!

I hand-quilted the patchwork on white cotton fabric and then sewed pillow covers with them. For the back, I used a nice rose-themed fabric, I thought it would go well with the front design.

And since I was in the mood for sewing pillow covers anyways (and had to go to Ikea too), I made two more pillows. Deer-themed this time, since I'm currently quite obsessed with deer-like animals.

So my bed is really really cosy now. I love having so many pillows (^.^)

Bambi Love

Hi my dear readers,

back in December, I got a little obsessed with anything deer/fawn themed. This probably started with the purchase of the Innocent World Bambi dress. So since I was still allowed to shop last year, I collected some more Bambi items. The great thing about online shopping is how you can trick yourself into giving gifts to yourself; since orders normally take some time to be delivered (especially when ordering from overseas), it's everytime like Christmas and birthday combined when something arrives (^.^)

So here's the fawn shopping haul:

Emily Temple Cute Bambi dress
I got it second hand from closetchild. It's super cute, isn't it? It's actually one of the few dresses from this brand I actually like. While the cuts are really versatile and flattering, I don't like most of the prints they design. However, I think this one is beautiful!

Knitted fawn hat
I found this on the etsy shop Kayi La Fashion. They make really pretty hats, I fell in love with this one the minute I saw it, I especially like the ears. It's made of soft wool and therefore very comfortable to wear.

Fawn fur collar
I purchased this adorable collar on Bathinas etsy shop Cute Lou Couture. Her creations are amazing, you should definitively check out her shop if you don't know it yet!

Plastic pink fawn rings
I bought the cabocchons (also on etsy) and glued them onto plain rings. Cute, right?

Fawn necklace & ring and anchor ring
Found them here. The anchor ring is a little off topic, but I wanted to show it to you anyways. The jewellery is nicely made, delicate and discreet. I'm looking forward to wear them.

Deer necklaces
You probably saw the golden one before, I purchased it quite a while ago from sheinside. The black one I found on closetchild, it's slightly smaller but otherwise exactly the same.

So, that's it for now. I hope I didn't shock you too much with my obsession (^.-)
